Spring Is Here! Spring Cleaning Guides and Tips

by Christine DeHart

Spring Is In The Air

It's time to dust off those cleaning supplies and get to work! While spring cleaning can seem like a daunting task, it's an important part of maintaining your home and keeping your living space organized. Here are some tips to help you tackle your spring cleaning to-do list.

Where to Start?

You may have taken note of any areas that may need extra attention, like dingy carpets or dusty corners that you always wanted to get around to cleaning but never did. Take notes of those instances and prioritize areas that you feel may have built up some more grime like the kitchen and bathroom.

Schedule a time and date to dedicate just for cleaning to make sure you get all those nooks and crannies with no distraction. Just remember, you don't have to do it all in one go! You're free to work at your own pace.

Setting up a regular cleaning schedule to maintain your space will keep it looking its best. A clean and organized home can improve your mental wellbeing, helping you feel more relaxed and at ease.

Organizing Your Things

Decluttering your space and getting rid of any items you no longer need will free up a lot of your living space. Over time, items and clothes start to pile up leading to some being forgotten or unused. Check for any expired items to throw out.

It may be time to throw out some of those items if they're no longer being used or maybe you might even find something to refurbish! You can even donate or sell some of the items in your hands and give it a new life.

Deep Cleaning

The real challenge of the spring cleaning is tackling the deep cleaning like scrubbing floors and wiping down baseboards. Try creating a music playlist to help pass the time faster or even listening to a podcast. Fun fact, Salmon Real Estate has an ongoing podcast featuring, Christine DeHart, click here to listen.

Things to take note of:

Kitchen

Your cabinets and drawers

De-greasing your backsplashes

Bathroom

Check for any mold from trapped moisture and spray mold blockers onto the walls

Bedroom

Clean out your drawers and neatly place items back in

Change out your bedding and pillow cases

General

Dust off the windows and light fixtures - Even though you might not see it, there's a lot of build up!

Deep clean any rugs and curtains

It might be tiresome but the end result will be worth it. If you're short on time or energy, consider hiring a professional cleaning service to help you get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Keeping Clean and Organized

A clean living space can help you feel more productive, focused, and relaxed.

Here are some tips for staying on top of your cleaning routine:

Set a schedule:

Assign different cleaning tasks to different days of the week, so you don't have to tackle everything at once.

Take it one room at a time:

Start with the room that needs the most attention and work your way through the rest of the house.

Declutter regularly:

Get rid of anything you no longer need or use to keep your space from getting cluttered and overwhelming.

Use natural cleaning products:

Chemical cleaners can be harsh and potentially harmful. Try using natural alternatives like vinegar and baking soda instead.

No matter what your spring cleaning goals are, remember to take it one step at a time. By staying organized and breaking down your tasks into manageable chunks, you can tackle your cleaning to-do list with ease. Happy cleaning!
